Though I suffer from poor memory, but I can recall (for it was not long ago) that my attitude used to be no less than that of a Megalomaniac (well, the reasons find a place locked in the safe of my ventricular chambers).I was a claustrophobic but with the gradual promotion to the higher tiers of my life, it seems that CLAUSTROPHOBIA does not figure in the dictionary of my character anymore. I am not only ailed from the fear of entrapment in small rooms but also from certain predicaments. Sometimes when you move to a big city the only thing you find big is the CITY itself…Before attaining the age required for adult suffrage, I put the blame of my futilitarian attitude regarding the fate of the country on the “insane” voters of the LARGEST democracy in the world…The word “largest” does seem to dominate “democracy” and make it appear as dwarf, thanks to the inefficient inverted red triangle program also known as the Family Planning Program (if heard of…)Obviously, it is an honor to be called the greatest Democracy. It “sounds” good. I try to shift my belief from that of an atheist to that of an agnostic so that at least I can have an ENTITY to blame my miseries on!!
No doubt that all of us want to be a HERO, but for the greater good of our country, we would have to do away with the “Exhibitionist” attitude. TEAM WORK is the Mantra. India is a land of effervescent people and we would not want her to turn or rather degrade into a country of Saturnine. Unfortunately with the corruption prevalent we might be starting if not already in the process of reaching such a day. With so many antisocial activities happening, I wonder if we are turned into Misanthropists. I can personally feel for our “beloved” and “respectable” Politicians. How well they teach the students the mantra of “self help being the best help” with examples from their own life…A brief mention of Mr. Arjun Singh becomes irresistible for me...He is a nice man. At least all students in Modern India (even those who are not so good at Quant and Math) know the simple calculation [Politics + studies = Arjun Singh]...For the proof of the theorem/equation/whatever it is called, look for the “PTS theorem...Dont panic CAT students...It is “Political theory of Studies” in Modern India...Hopefully a day would come when students in India would learn RSS as an abbreviated form for “Really Simple Syndication” and not…
I am against Homicide, so a possible solution for a weakening democracy that, if I can give, as NSA (hopefully one day) which would be acceptable to both voters and politicians, is to send these politicians to the island of Tristan Da Cunha for a paid vacation (with a surety that no one would follow them for with the RTI dagger on additional expense.)Tax Payers can take heart by envisaging the same as a “1 time Investment”. With no compunctions for AAM junta’s misery, don’t you think they deserve a trip? Mayans foretold that the world would come to an end on 21st December 2012.Well, in case this warning, inferred from Long Count, is to be believed I would not like the archaeologists and anthropologists of the next Human Race to characterize this one on the basis of what they find out about these “Kind Hearted MEN OF HONOUR”

sad to c such pessimism. ours is a young country.we r still undergoing a learning process.I agree politics is becoming dirtier day by day but timez soon gonna change.give india some more time(A decade or two) before it bursts on to the internatonal scene as the most DEVELOPED country with prosperity and peace everywhere.
i like ur sarcasm on present day politicians.but i fail to understand ur peg?u speak about claustrophobia in a BIG city nd then move on to poke fun at r political system.again i wud like to make the same suggestion as earlier,try to write in a more simpler language.......Interesting nyways.ur style of writing is a bit hattke....
i like d way u showed d true picture of indian politicians... it is the reality...wich unfortunately no one can deny
@Bharath
Man....u seem to live in a world of sweet dreamz..Envisaging the best in future at the cost of ignoring the present scenario wd never let the dreams materialise into reality...Fact wd b fact n no matter wat happens,we gotta accept the reality..BE REALISTIC in your approach,cz livin in dreams wd neva lead to the creation of the India wich r forefathers wantd to...Dreams r essential,bt not at the cost of ignoring Harsh Facts.
@Rozita....
Claustrophobia in y write up hs a wider range of meanings that wat ur oxford sugggested...Dnt u feel chained wen certain conditions impose on u in such a way that u r helpless n cnt do nything...!!in modern day scenario,honest men feel so chokd that n effort on their part to improve conditions is met with lots of hurdles...Dnt u think the political scene is responsible for the CLAUSTROPHOBIA of honest men who wana do sumthn HATKE for the nation for her bettermnt???u cdnt get ths link....so hopefully now u get it
n wen it comes to language...well i ll try n imitate sum 8th grader...btw that was simple(may b jst perception)
@ Neha...
atleast u got he message correctly...and ya,we can change face for better if we do work for it,bt we hv to take care of present for the same...CNT CHANGE FACTS TO SUIT OUR WHIMS AND FANCIES n falsly believe to live in a honeymoon period
i wud just like to say EVERYONE got the message correctly no1 here is living in a fantasy land.i wud just like to add that im fully aware of the present day scenario but at the same time i dnt shy away frm the fact that its WE who make the system.politicians r handful in front of US-'THE'Population...We are the bureaucrats,we are there in police forces,we are ppl who encourage corruption(bribing the traffic policemen) we give donations to enter into college,we resort to unfair practices.CHANGE my dear is a very tuff nd deep word,we shud use it after thnking.....Thnking in terms of SYSTEM-politicians as well as citizens.Amen........
Nd yeah 1 more thng:
i never meant 8th grade english wen i said 'Simpler'.
Dnt b so proud of ur University level (or mayb beyond that)English.it holds no value if 'Expression' nd 'Reach' is missing.Hav u ever wondered why the term is 'Writing Skills' nd nt 'Writing'.coz its indeed a skill 2 make ur write-up more readable nd reachable.Luk at ny mag-Indai Today,Outlook,Financial and Political Weekly etc. all r written in simple understandable words nd dnt boast of their high grade english.....
Dnt take it to heart,that was frm a friend.......
read the comments on ur frst blog,ur frnd neha says : .....tho its a bit difficult to understand and i myself cudn't get a few things...
wen Neha says about the things she cdnt get...itz related to facts n nt english....N start readn books of good authors rozti....!!
do suggest me some too....n jahan tak proud hone ki baat hai...i cnt do that for sure unless m in HARVARD...
btw,to most of my friends,it is SIMPLE.....so i obviously go by MAJORITY yaar....Democracy hai....
arre even i meant linking facts wen i meant make it more simpler dodo!y will I hav a prob with word usage nd all.i thot blogs was abt expressing,spreading messages nd nt abt garnering majority nd feeling sooooo gud abt urself.
I really appreciate ur writing nd u noe that.nw stop makng a fuss.

@rahul
May i know what grave mistakes did our statesmen do to go to the xtent of assasinating them!Just because there have been some instances of poor governance and corruption u cant say that the whole political fraternity is COORUPT.It is u who is living away from reality.Come down to the grassroots see the work that our government has done.I can neva endorse ur XTREMIST views.
n yeah.....wen u say the police is dishonest...u must b knowin the pay pack that they get....n compare it with tht of the politicians...They make law...Sheela Dixit increses the pay of cabinet by 33%...R u kidin me???Y is there n o age for the politicians to retire???pple below 18 cnt vote and those above it r in dilemma as to who to vote...pple like arjun singh , pappu yadav cant represent the country abroad...n dnt u think the politicians ..all of them...shd at least hv the capability of rep the same...nyways they do say they r pplez rep...pple get thru UPSE exam to bcum IAS officers n wat do pols do...want them to dance to their tunes or else u r transfrd....wow!!!
y r u telling all that to us???hello?go contest the elections!we'l support u.if u thnk u hav the capability then go ahead nd change our country.We with u,promise.
Watevr u mentiond i completely agree on that,but come up with solutions dear.enuff ho gaya pak gaye hum ye sunn sunn ke,bol bol ke ki humaara desh aisa hain vaisa hain.aao ab apne desh ko vaisa banaye jaisa hum chaahte ho.Lets start a movement right here right now
@ Bharat my bro....
i said i m against HOMICIDE....Wich includes Politicians aswl....n had it not been the EXTREMISTS..u wdnt hv been living in a free country...!!!
:)
@rahul
hey Its UPSC(Union Public Service Commision) and not UPSE.The IAS i do agree has been corrupted but the powers bestowed on an IAS officer are strong enuph to not oblige to the politicians.An IAS officer is the uncrowned king of a district.Its just that V r lacking the ideals and moral values.For this we have to blame our obselete Education system and not our bureaucrats and politicians
As u know gal...i m always in for a movement of ny sort for bettermnt of the country....n i was tellin all this to u cz u cdnt see the reality wen it came to BUREAUCRACY in the country...situations demanded the need for the same....
wd b good to hv u in the team....:)
@rahul
what good did the xtremists do for our country.Its ppl like gandhi and nehru who brought us independence.The xtremists just provided an impetus for our freedon struggle.It is the non violent moment that won us our freedom not ur xtremists.They xtremists were just a miniscule part of it.
1)u know in bangalore IT professionals inspite of their long wotrking hrs take out time fr NGO's or ny other form of social service.khud karte hain without ny support.coz they r 2 restless 2 wait fr thngs to change.bravo to their spirits
2)im frgettn the place but ther were bunch of youngsters who were pizzd off with MCD nd their kaamchor attitude.so they themselves set out nd cleaned their colonies together nd developed parks! :)
3)thr is ds small village in chhatisgarh(il conform nd tell sorry short memory,lolz)guess wat it has bcum a tourist spot coz its so green,clean nd beautiful coz 1 day all village ppl decided on sumthng nd came frward nd wrkd real hard.roz waha wo khud hee safaai karte hain,they plant trees.its luvly.nd later govt came frwrd to support them when they saw the spirit of 'initiative' in them.Nw even they r happy as it brings in tourism revenue..... :)
these nd many more shud b r inspiration.Thanks rahul thru ur blog mayb ds message wl reach out
enuph???I wdnt go in for a spell check mate!!!
comon man...i cd hv deleted that UPSE thng,he he...its jst that haste n passion wen combined leads to missin a ltr (hre)
so, u agree that in present day there is NO MORAL AND ETHICAL VALUES IN THE COUNTRY....i cn infer that as wen u affirm that IAS dnt hv the integrity then we cant trust anyone...rt??
n police wen fairn honest r victims of political judgmnt n they r nt gvn posts that they deserve...KIAN BEDI....suna hoga!!!
ya rozti...well done...nw thats encouraging and pleasing...N CSR(Corporate Social Responsibility) of the companies can be added to wateva u jst mentioned.....thet r doin good job , tho adequacy is nt defined in this case
KIRAN BEDI! wats gone wrong with her.She was honest thru out her career and she got her due . What better post does she need that represent our country in UN.Though she was hated by the poltcns ,her brilliant work got her the job.She was honest enuph to tow away then PM Indira Gandhi's car. She was transferred from postin .But wherever she went she did her duty.No1 stopped her.This shows if ur brave enuph 2 b honest there is enuph space for u 2 breathe. So if u have the GUTS and IDEALS ,i can assure u can breathe easy in this country
The NGO in banglr called Youth For seva is an initiative of none other than the RSS.The root of BJP.The politicians that u hate so much have provided this wonderful platform for the IT proffesionals and students to offer services to the society.Now temme wat harm has our politicians done to our country?
she breathes EASY bcoz of her honest and the pride she takes in that....Dude,u do knw abt the UN think n the famous Indira Gandhi anecdote....bt it wd b better if u do find out as to why she went on voluntary leave lng bef her term of office expired...!!
y wasnt she made the IG in Delhi???there wr pple better than her??
Reservation....a boom to meritocracy,rt???
No age to retire for politicians...it ensures chance for youth to represent the nation...rt Bharath??
Defection to suit the selfish motives....well thats service to nation...
Nuke Deal .....well ...
Not celebrating POKHRAN....wow...
the chief of the pokhran projct says on the behalf of other scientists..."a country that doesnt remembr the scientists n engineers n those who contributd 4 somethn good for the country,hs an uncertain future"
want mre??
in case u justify this,then it cn show as to what hands hold the future of this great nation of ours...
wat harm if she didnt get the IG post!u seem to say as if it is the end of the world for her. She has done her job well and really well.Let the politicians do wateva they want 2 but if V de youth of india stay honest and stick to our ideals am sure we can bring abt a dramatic change .No use tellin u all dis coz u gonna betray ur motherland and runaway 2 US !
Dude...u knw wat wd hv happnd if she was the inspec Gen of Police in Del....the politicians wdnt hv hd the gala tym wich they r so used to....n with ur comments it seems that u feel that i m against Kiran Bedi...aisa toh nahi hai na??
WELL NOW U GETTN PERSONAL bHARATH....who told u m goin to the USA??n who tld u that those who go to America is betrayin INDIA??ambanis went there,so did top bizmen...btw does this youth seva representd by HINDU - MUSLIM alike??
what abt the CARTOSAT satellite,wat abt the success of NREGA .There r 2 sides of every coin .Itz upto u to choose which side u want.and cmng 2 retirement age 4 politicians.Y do u want them 2 retire.There rnt enuph talented ppl to take on the mantle.U expect an able politician like Manmohan singh to take sanyaas from politics just bcos he is 60+.temme a person who can take his place.And moreover it takes time to climb the rings of political ladder to reach the top post unlike ur corporate world.Dont try corporatize politics.Its a world apart
yup There is no hindu muslim divide in YFS.Infact de project i am dng,itz head is a muslim.
K me gng letz continue dis DEBATE later.
DUDE....Did ya jst call Prime Minister Singh as a Politician????hmm...do i need to say anything nw??
N jahan tak CARTOSAT ki baat hai....hw r u linking it to the success of the politician is beyond my comprehension!!!
omg!dude he is holding a public office.He is very much in politics.how can u say he isnt part of politics!And cartosat wouldnt have been possible without the support of govt.I agree that not givin respect to the scientists part of pokhran is a mistake.Thats due to the very delicate situation in the nuclear field.They will get their due soon.Atleast wen BJP comes bak 2 power nxt year.
well...Prime Mr. Sigh hasnt fought any election....he is far frm the general connotation wich we hv for POLITICS.One politician(in every sense of the word) who stands out is Prime Mr. Vajpayee....no one else comes near him...
N EVERY act requires Govt Approval.so if they approv e of it,it dsnt mean govt has done a commendable job,itz jst that they had to do it or else there wd b resentment+thats the DUTY.....
n hang on....u believe pple like somnath chaterjee...jyoti basu..ur fav lalu yadav etc..are "OLD GLORY"??
WELL I DNT MIND...:)
If u say that manmohan is not a politician.then i am sorry 2 say u dont understand the politics in our country. And may i know y in d e pic is manmohan hanged along with people like laloo , pranab etc.If u dont agree that ,manmohan is not a politician then remove the pic and then comment
wen was the last tym he took his own decision???y cnt he defy LEFT and go ahead wid the nuke deal??Y has he been constantly termd as the WEAKEST PRIME MINISTER (by ur own BJP)?n u choose to escape qs abt mreitocracy,nuke deal,defection etc....
hw do u jstify pple fightn election 4 sum party and ensdin up in a cabinet of some other party??
come on thatz politics.its very complex . U ll get 2 know only wen u enter the system.U cant stay out and comment on him.He is definitely one of the able PMs i have ever seen.May i know who has commented that he is the weakest PM ever.Its BJP and its allies.It is just 2 malign him.Manmohan is a person who lets his work do the talking unlike other politicians.His silence is regarded by most of them as his weakness.But he is gem of a person and has done great service to the nation as prime minister.The Nuke deal,NREGA and many more innovative ideas belong to him.
And u still havent justified y Manmohan is hangin in the picture in ur blog though u consider him not 2 b a politician.
well i consider prime mnstr Singh a victim of politics...tho attributed to his own mistakes...!!
Btw do u go n vote??
on one sde u r hopeful that BJP shd cm to power n on the other u accuse them of malignin the PM....take a firm position man!!
n wateva u term it as.."Politics" or "Strategic Implications"...fact remains that he is a weak pm...
btw Lal Krishna Adwani,Rajnath Singh, shusma swaraj .....all have termed him as a weak PM...
why cnt he say a yes to the deal even wn the ARMY CHIEFS hv sd that they WANT this deal done...??
Dirty politics,eeeh??
unfortunately,to save his chair,hez no more that sane Manmohan Singh who we looked upto...
i wish he puts contry 1st..n nt KURSI!!
itz not abt kursi.irz abt stability.the left with withdraw support as soon as he gives a green signal 2 nuke deal and then wat next? all the other devpmnt programmes wud b stalled.So in the best interest of country , the deal has been stalled. And cmng 2 my firm position.I like Manmohan as an indvdl and for his work.But as a party , I feel the BJP and its allies r far better.
I like the comments u have made on the present scenario regarding politics. your ideas have been supported by sound facts. there is one thing that i would like to add though, try using a simpler vocabulary. there is no use if only a select section of the society is able to understant what u say. make sure that ur ideas are understandable to all sections of the society.
Phew!! That has been one happening debate. I do believe this blog has achieved what it's supposed to...get the youth emotional enough to speak out!!
Raul, very well written. Yes, it's a little difficult piece to understand but only because of ignorance about the specific facts mentioned to eludicate the main ideas. The english is fine :)
Look forward to more of the good stuff from Rahul as well as all the debators here...after all, opposition is as important as the ruling party!
@ tANVI..
uRS WAS THE MOST ENCOURAGIN comment both for my "style" of writin(english) and also to assess the reach out of the message that i tried to convey...thanks
@Abhijeet..
Thanks manh!!
I will try to use penurious english next tym to c dat my msg reach all(in terms of msg bein deciphered)
and at last my dear RSS chief
@Bharath...
Dost...y wd all other programs be hampered wen the govt gives a nod to the Nuke Deal???I think u r absolutely mistaken as to the facts regardin the Nuke Deal...It is for our "Civil Nuclear Program"..we in India wd use it for generatn energy n not 4 any futile ambition..!!!
PM Singh knows it bt he is chained...well wat wd u call a PM who doesnt respect D SERVICE CHIEFS??
i know very well the plusses and minuses of nuke deal.Infact i have a copy of the 123 agreement.If u want i can pass u dat for a better idea.I am not saying the nuke deal wud stall devpmnt prgrms.Wat i say is if we go ahead with the nuke deal then CPI which has 43 seats in lok sabha wud pull out of the govt . Then the ruling coalation wud lose majority .This wud result in political instability which is not desirable at this stage.
secondly the present state of country because of us, especially the middle class.
herez an xample for u from AP. An IAS oficer fed up with the corruption left his job and started a movement called LOk satta 3 years ago. This year he launched a political party with a motive of getting honest people into politics. In the recent by elections he got software proffesionals and young people to contest in the election.But unfortunately even in the urban areas they failed miserably.Now temme is it not we the people who r not supporting these honest people .The problem we the urban middle class never bother to vote. Majority of them consider the election day as a day off and lay back at home and follow the election coverage on TVs.It is the dhobis and servants who hold key to the fortunes of politicians.The middle class has a very miniscule role in the mandate. If we have 2 change our political set up the middle class has 2 come out and participate actively in politics whether it is voting or contestin.Thats the only solution to all our problems. sending the politicians to the island of Tristan Da Cunha for a paid vacation wont help.
with regards 2 PM u have 2 realise that PM is accountable not only 2 our Army chiefs but also the billion+ popltn.So its not desiderata that PM go by whatever the army chiefs suggest.
Firstly, about the piece...It was well written. I liked the start and the middle where you vented your spleen on the politicians. For a responsible and concerned citizen, it is totally acceptable to do that. But towards the end, I also expected there to be a remedy or a ray of hope or of certain effects being explained or certain questions being asked, but I didn't find any. On that count, the end was off-track of the "creative anger" I expected.
And how can we put the "extremists" above the "moderates" or vice versa and say that it was because of a particular group that we got independence..? Really, How?? Non-violent activists did much to frustrate the British, as did the "extremists"...and anyways, the British didn't ULTIMATELY leave the country because of our freedom fighters, it was simply the thinking that started to prevail among the western powers soon after the gruesome Second World War ended. Quite evident from the spate of independence that many African and Asian countries achieved immediately after the Second World War...
And Rahul, you should have thought twice before saying that "no one comes even close to Vajpayee"..Do you know that there is video evidence of Atal addressing a gathering a day before the Babri Masjid demolition and saying that the "ground has to be levelled" !!!!! (Source-Outlook)
@Ashwin...
i know that wat west attributes to India's freedom is the facts regarding the 2nd world war...bt i firmly believe that it was all the efforts of the "extremists" along wid the "moderates" that lay the foundation for India to achieve her freedom(btw no biases bt i m sum1 likely to support extremists view,they both were doin same thing bt differently))!!!It coincided wid the African nations' independence and whole world knows that India's struggle is exemplary and evn if the world war was no factor,we hd the inertia of gainin it ourselves....!!!Now dnt Thank pearl Harbor for our independence...he he!!!
and haan....wen u r comparing POLITICIANS...u dnt see for the best these days...u jst look for who is the "least bad".....!!
atleast that that outlook report wd hlp our dear friend Bharath assess hs views on politicians...i seriously dint know this...n m SHOCKED!
@ashwin
THe BB demolition were the dark days of BJP.But the 5 years of rule by BJP has helped erase those bad memories. They have softened on their hindutva stand now and realised that the only way forward is to take a holistic approach.The future looks bright with a BJP rule than a UPA misrule.
regrdng India's independence i agree wid rahul to some xtent that
india had the inertia to get it on its own.We fortunate to have people like nehru,gandhi etc who took the fight to britain not with swords but with words. The british succumbed to the pressure and there is solid evidence to prove this. WW2 had no role in india's indpndnc.
@rahul
xtremists are IMMATURE.most of them neva achieved what they wanted 2.the bin ladens and saddams ,u saw what happened 2 them.
"THe BB demolition were the dark days of BJP.But the 5 years of rule by BJP has helped erase those bad memories. They have softened on their hindutva "...Thats what our friend Bharath thinks....well i m shocked as to how u cd justify communal riots and demolishn of a monument of National Importance by sayin that good governance erases them...They dnt hv anyother choice bt to soften their stance in a SECULAR nation!!
n EXTREMISTS...well Subhash Chandra Bose did use his power so did Bhagat singh n all....Y do u take it to ANTISOCIALS...IN case u cdnt decipher then i must clarify that it wr the xtremists in the freedom struggle that i was referin to....i dnt thhink others helpd India gain feedom!!:)
i undrstood wat u meant 2 say. wat i want 2 convey is xtremist thoughts wont help , they always lead to destruction . I agree that xtremists had a role 2 play in freedom struggle.they provided the impetus but the real independence was won by the moderates. It was moderates who were very much active during the 1940s not the xtremists.It was the moderates who put immense pressure on the britain.Xtremists were no where in the scene during this crucial period
regrdng BABRI MASJID
de case is pending in court of law so v better stop discussing abt it and focus on other important aspects bothering our country. digging into the past wont help.
U DINT GET IT EVEN NOW yar...dekh...u say that extermists' action ALWAYS lead to destruction!!!well u remember the sepoy mutiny??extreme actions of pple like rani lakshmi bai shook the Britishers to their base....nw u wd argue as to why we cdnt win freedom...the ans rests wid the Indians who betrayed the mother land..(Arjun singh's ancestors included)
and dnt expect pple to leave the past undisturbed....referin to the past shws the way(correct one) to the future....!!
